I have never experienced a place that does holidays like Louisiana. Before I moved, I had heard of Mardi Gras before, but I didn’t know how much it actually meant to the locals.
Right after the Christmas decorations come down, the Mardi Gras decorations go up. It’s a time for balls, food, partying, parades, drinking, and lots of beads. Just this past weekend, I went to more parades than I have gone to in my whole life.
Since my boyfriend will be riding in a parade Tuesday, I have spent my weekend helping him catch beads to throw. Who would have thought you could catch so many beads in just one night?
